Fashionista Find – Thomas Sabo Sterling Silver

Posted in fashionista finds, jewellery, jewels, online shopping by fashionista514 on September 16, 2009
For those of you who follow my blog, you have for sure first handedly experienced my love for my Thomas Sabo charm necklace… featured lately in nearly EVERY outfit post that I have done!

This designer I just so happened to stumble upon completely by accident (don’t you love that?!?). I was shopping with my mom downtown and she loves to jewellery store window gaze (not usually my thing)… and behold! I saw these quirky little customizable charms where you could build your own necklaces and bracelets.

What I love the most is that Thomas’ jewels are the new and improved version of the charm bracelets we all used to have and collect as kids – made in sterling, to last (and not turn green or rust… ughhh…. remembering back in the day…) and also with a lot more of a thought out design. While the line still supplies the classic girly charms, the collections that are released seem to have more personality as well as a bit more of a modern approach. Instead of bikinis, heels and lipstick charms, us ladies (and gents) can rock out with swords, skulls, bulldogs, headphones and sneakers! Now THERE is an insta-improvement!

Ohhhh… would LOVE to get my puggers some of these for her collar… the thing is I would FOR SURE steal them for moi :p

I WANT I WANT I WAAAANTTTT…. that bulldoggie charm… please excuse my brattiness… I swear it’s only temporary…

Cassette… YESSSSS

Babes New Car… R-R-R-R-Roadtrip!!!

Posted in adventure, babe, can you beleive?, car, dreams, excitement, favorite, fun, luxury, my man, online shopping, travel, vlad by fashionista514 on June 27, 2009
So… amazingly enough, this IS NOT a joke and Vlad just bought this insanely sexy, fast and GORGEOUS Porsche 911 CONVERTIBLE!!!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Alright, now before you think we are millionaires or something… lets get a few things clear… ๐Ÿ˜‰
He found this on eBay for the insanely low price (for a Porsche anyways) of $26,000… ummmm… my friends new Chevy Cavalier cost her four grand more than our Porsche, so I’m thinking its a pretty sick deal…

It is currently in Pensylvania just waiting for the movers to come and pick it up ๐Ÿ˜‰ With any luck, we will be cruisin’ around town by mid next week (with some pics of us IN it – so that you guys actually believe me ๐Ÿ˜‰

Ahhhh… silver with navy blue leather interior… mmmmmm…

So here is the question I have for all of y’alls…

Vlad and I have about three weeks of vacation coming up… and we are definately going on a roadtrip convertible Bonnie & Clyde style to California to see some friends and family. We will be stopping around the U.S. along the way and want to know where we should go and what we should see, eat, experience… anything you can think of!

Dare us to try something? Know about fun and daring activities in the U.S. where we can stop (keep in mind our route from Montreal to Cali – must be along the way)?

Let me know ๐Ÿ˜‰

Calling All Collectors!!! Rice & Beans Vintage Interview

Posted in interview, online shopping, vintage by fashionista514 on June 5, 2009
(Vintage 80’s Wild Embellished Wide Belt)

Every once and a while you come across something new that is truly special. Something that inspires you and brings a breath of fresh air into your train of thought and everyday routines… some days, even something from another time…

Rice & Beans Vintage has been my little find (seriously, this is where all the highly coveted threads end up) ;), and now I am sharing it with all of you!

(Vintage CHANEL Red Wool Gown Dress w/CHANEL Gold Chain Detail)

Fashionista 514 brings you this exclusive interview with Sarah Korsiak Cellier – both the owner and buyer for this unique online vintage shop!

R.C. What is it about Vintage clothing that attracts you?
S.K.C. For the most part I love the quality and cut of vintage clothing. I also love that each piece has history & a story to tell.
R.C. How did you come up with Rice & Beans Vintage website? Did you have an inspiration for the site?
S.K.C. I have been a vintage and designer clothing dealer for the past 7-8 years. Rice and Beans Vintage began out of an extreme love for fashion and vintage clothing. I created Rice and Beans Vintage as a creative outlet and out of a need for a shop where there could be something for everyone.

R.C. What do you look for when selecting vintage items?

S.K.C. The first thing I look at when selecting a vintage or designer piece for Rice and Beans Vintage is the quality. I’m not a huge fan of polyester unless the piece is exceptional. I look for unique materials & cuts that can withstand the test of time in a style sense, but also remain current and fresh. I always have the current runway and style trends in the back of my mind when choosing a piece.

R.C. Where do you get most of your clothing, shoes and accessories from?

S.K.C. I have a variety of amazing sources of which I cannot divulge!

(Vintage 40’s WHITING & DAVIS Silver Metal Mesh Bag w/Cherub & Floral Frame)

R.C. What is the best piece of advice you can give to someone who is new to experimenting with vintage fashion? Is there a foolproof approach for first timers so that they donโ€™t look like they stepped out of a time machine? ๐Ÿ˜‰
S.K.C. I always recommend starting off slowly if you are new to vintage clothing. I like to start by adding a cute vintage accessory or pair of shoes to your current outfit. This way you can really play with vintage and not look like you are changing you whole fashion persona.

R.C. How does a shopper know when theyโ€™ve found themselves a great vintage deal?

S.K.C. If you love it and it makes you feel beautiful, you’ve found it!

(Vintage 80’s Hand Woven Metallic Leather Open Weave Moccasins, sz 37)
R.C. What are your personal fashion wardrobe must-haves?
S.K.C. I am definitely a chameleon and change my must-haves often. That being said, the perfect pair of denim, leather jackets in many colors, and a fierce pair of stilettos are things that I never wavier on.

(Vintage 80’s OLEG CASSINI Bead & Paillette Blouse or Micro Mini Dress w/Batwing Sleeves)

R.C. Any beauty tips for gals looking to embrace their inner โ€œvintage goddessโ€?

S.K.C. Choose pieces that you love and gravitate towards. Don’t worry too much about getting it right or achieving the magazine look because in the end you won’t be comfortable and it will show.

(AZZEDINE ALAIA Snake Skin Platform Shoes, size 37.5)

R.C. Best ways to mix in vintage accessories into a modern wardrobeโ€ฆ
S.K.C. Pay attention to current trends when picking a vintage accessory. This is a fun way to start. For example seek out a Vintage 80’s Neon clutch to update your look or you could stay classic and purchase an investment piece like a Vintage Chanel or Gucci bag that you know will always be in style.

Pieces of Me… I’ve Got Mail!

Posted in makeup, online shopping, pug by fashionista514 on April 30, 2009
So this morning I opened the door to the postman showering me with gifts (don’t you love it when everything comes at the same time)?!? Amazing! What a great start to the day! So, first thing opened up was the beautiful custom order hand crocheted pug from fellow blogger
Kimberly Tia!
Bella, my own pug was VERY interested in who this newcomer was… here are pics of the interrogation…

“Show me what you got fool”…
Hmmmmm… what the hell are you”?!?

Be sure to check out Miss Tia’s page for a great mothers day gift (alongside a bouquet of flowers it is a heartfelt homemade gift) :). Mom have a beloved pet? Send pics and she will make them exactly (hey… my pug was fooled)!

Ah, and now we move on to post item #2 – a uber girly pink gummy cover for my Blackjack! Woot woot! I scored this find off eBay for a little under $10 (thank you eBay)!
I am an insane text messager/e-mail writer (I even blog from my phone occasionally), so my phone is my sidekick in life… now I can do it all in style ๐Ÿ˜‰

moving along…

I am a big fan of fake lashes when I go out on the town and scored these Red Cherry lashes (once again on eBay – my saviour) for $10 for a pack of twelve! Amazing! I usually use MAC lashes, but honestly find that even with my discount they too much to pay for cheap thrills. I like that these are made of natural hair and will definitely blog a review when I get a chance to wear them out! Can’t beat that deal though – raid eBay for the same find and for some great “extreme” lashes in different colours (great for dress up, costumes and specialized looks).

Love the lashes!

Here is the ink drawing I am working on right now… far from complete, but in progression. My art gives me peace of mind. I love zoning out with my music on and my imagination running. Bold color is always a must! I am thinking of making prints for stationery very soon… I will keep you all posted!

I think it is about time I introduced you all to my marvelous blogging tool – my laptop! Now, I even blog in style my dears with my Sony VAIO with a chocolate brown snakeskin back…. rrrrowwww! The first moment I saw it I knew it was love. Practicality married to Fashion. Perfect for a fashionista!

The keyboard is a golden/bronze colour to match the chocolate brown detailing. This is my baby… runs like a well oiled machine… lol… okay, I am sounding like a guy talking about his truck… ๐Ÿ˜‰

That’s all folks! Computer, Pug and I signing off!

Kimberly Tia – Crochet Goddess!

Posted in beauty, online shopping, pug by fashionista514 on April 11, 2009
The Miss Kimberly Tia…
She ain’t no crochet grandma!

My pug crochet doll is ready! The gorgeous blogger Kimberly Tia knows the art of the needle, and makes these adorable custom pet orders or any of your favorite Hello Kitty/cartoon characters!
It seems like I just placed the order yesterday, and somehow she is already done! Crazy lady! I thought she did my pug Bella justice and even caught the curled pig tail detail ๐Ÿ™‚

Seriously, how friggen cool is she?!? Talented, beautiful and intelligent… I can’t wait to get my model version of Bella! The custom order was $25.00 and all I had to do was send a pic of my pugger! Amazing gifts for friends and family ๐Ÿ™‚

Retro Glam Sparkle!

Posted in accessory, fashion, lipstick, makeup, online shopping by fashionista514 on April 9, 2009
Here are some personal pieces I put together to create a retro glam look – with a walk on the modern side (confused by my contradiction yet!?). I adore the colour black. In a patent shine, soft leather, faded out denim, sparkling or satin finish – black is multi-faceted and very versatile.
I scored these over the top chandelier earring diamond look alikes at Aldo for $30.00. I love pairing them with the faux diamond chunky ring (below) $25.00 (Aldo), jeans, and some killer heels… top it all off with black winged eyeliner and sexy is mine!

Around Christmas last year I treated myself to this gorgeous Gucci watch. I wear it like it is jewellery – not a watch. I love that it isn’t bulky and carries the brands signature horse bit trademark into its styling. One of my investment pieces!

The jewelled clutch which I snatched up from Nine West is another undeniable favorite and instant classic to my life. Altogether, this combo calls for a slick martini and MAC’s russian red lipstick to pull it all off ๐Ÿ˜‰

You will see me sparkle from a mile away ๐Ÿ˜‰

The Sexiest Swimwear in All of the Land

Posted in fashion, hotness, online shopping by fashionista514 on April 2, 2009
Agent Provocateur (my absolute favorite when it comes to matters of the lingerie sort), has just launched their new swimwear collection titled “The Sirens”. Models that mimic the same reported mermaids that seduced unsuspecting sailors into their watery graves. Hey, some looks apparently can kill ๐Ÿ˜‰
With denim looks and country-styled gingham prints, these two piece wonders are meant to be worn with a scarlet shade of lipstick and some killer heels… add a mojito to the mix of a rooftop terrace and you’ve official won at summer swimwear!

For those of you who love to let your inner vixen shine (as you should), fishnet black gloss looks have also become a staple in the collection. Check out some of the gorgeous racier looks below…

Whether you are playing the sweet or sinful card, Agent Provocateur makes sure you do it in style without border lining the vulgar.

Seriously trendy and sleek, these swimsuits are classics that will never age and keep you on the forefront of the luxury that fashion is today.

Just be sure to bring some life vests wherever you may go, as I’m sure the drowning /heart stopping/gasping for air rates will be going up as soon as you hit that terrace ;).

Free Skin Goodies!

Posted in contests, gift, giveaway, online shopping, promos by fashionista514 on April 1, 2009

Alright, so another shopping day – this time via my wonderful little laptop from the comfort of my bed ๐Ÿ˜‰ – could shopping be any better?!? I have recently discovered Mario Badescu skincare… and have since been wondering how I have survived thus far without it…

I am a fiercely loyal Erno Laszlo enthusiast, however after filling out the online skin analysis on http://www.mariobadescu.com/, I was offered to try some of their samples. Since I am up here in the great white north, it took a bit longer to get here than promised. Never the less I received them about a week ago today and have trying to make them last as long as possible ;). They sent me a beautiful little kit with a seaweed face wash, kiwi face scrub, flower and tonic face mask, aloe eye cream and toner and an spf face moisturizer that my skin has been enjoying very, very much! I figure since the two lines are made up of mostly natural ingredients that I can switch around some of my routine to add some good old fashioned fun ;). So, I ordered the flower and tonic mask (has an absolutely amazing smell, and my face glowed after the treatment), the brands infamous drying lotion (supposed to be able to zap pimples overnight), and the amazing spf facial cream! A great plus is this lines affordability – the line ranges from $6 – $40! Erno is quite a bit pricier, and my full order at Mario cost the same as one product from Erno…. hmmmmm…. who knew cutting costs could be so fun?
Check the clients list to see all the gorgeous celebrities who are Badescu’s personal clients – hey, if it’s good enough for Jennifer Aniston…
