Love Package from Chrystina :)

Posted in contest, friends, friendship, funk, gift, giveaway, inspiration, lipstick, my man, prize, thank you by fashionista514 on June 27, 2009
So if you didn’t already know, I was the runner-up winner for the GORGEOUS and poetic Chrystina’s NARS contest/giveaway (out of 100 peeps yo – soooo amazing)!!! If you aren’t already following her beautiful thoughts, go IMMEDIATELY… RIGHT NOW to her blog

Whimsical Rose

Once you get there you will know exactly what I mean when I say that this girl is heartbreakingly beautiful in every sense of the word… she can find beauty in absolutely everything and her posts dictate personal strength, motivation, dreams and dilemma’s… all the while adding a fairytale twist to her every perspective πŸ™‚ This is why I am addicted to her blog… it is her au naturale… raw art.

Alright, so enough with the sappiness… on with the show πŸ˜‰ Look at the beautiful vintage card she sent me!!! Complete with a Barbie sticker to seal the envelope… loves it…

Chrystina shared some tips on how to “work it” in my new NARS Dolce Vita lipstick (will be posting pics verrrry soon), and quoted one of my absolute favorite scenes from Sex and the City (remember when Carrie is standing by the water fountain in the white dress with her hair all wild and curly…)

“Maybe some women aren’t meant to be tamed. Maybe they need to run free until they find someone just as wild to run with them”

-Carrie Bradshaw-

How true is this quote… I cannot even begin to explain… Some women can handle being in a relationship ruled by a man. Some can handle being suffocated and held down from achieving their dreams. Some can accept that no matter how devoted they are to their man, they will never see it returned. Some can put their lives on hold for another, only to find out in the end that their lives are already over.

I am proud to say that I am not, and never will be one of these women. I have found my wild match who, chases me actually, and keeps me reaching for everything I ever wanted to achieve. If one day he were to change, he would have been the one who had made me strong enough to not care, and just do it anyways :). Thank you babes – you have given me the priceless gift of self worth, confidence and “fuck the world, I’m gonna do whatever I want”

… like I said… priceless πŸ˜‰

Alright, alright… seems today we are getting quite sidetracked huh?!?! Back to business once more…

So, as if a beautiful card filled with beautiful words and a NARS lipstick weren’t enough… darling Chrystina included this super funky/fresh red & black zebra print bangle!!! Groovy baby (that is my tribute to Austin Powers… I will shut up now…)!!! I LOVE THIS BRACELET! I can already feel it’s gonna be bringing out my wild (favorite) side… πŸ˜‰

Thank you girl! Your package was so thoughtful and packed with a taste of your personality – tres cool… I consider this bracelet some kind of friendship bangle – def always think of you when I wear it.

For all of you who read this post and DIDN’T do as I TOLD YOU TO at the beginning (going IMMEDIATELY to Whimsical Rose)….

***sorry… not meaning to be rude… I’m just dishing it out today***

Babes New Car… R-R-R-R-Roadtrip!!!

So… amazingly enough, this IS NOT a joke and Vlad just bought this insanely sexy, fast and GORGEOUS Porsche 911 CONVERTIBLE!!!

Alright, now before you think we are millionaires or something… lets get a few things clear… πŸ˜‰
He found this on eBay for the insanely low price (for a Porsche anyways) of $26,000… ummmm… my friends new Chevy Cavalier cost her four grand more than our Porsche, so I’m thinking its a pretty sick deal…

It is currently in Pensylvania just waiting for the movers to come and pick it up πŸ˜‰ With any luck, we will be cruisin’ around town by mid next week (with some pics of us IN it – so that you guys actually believe me πŸ˜‰

Ahhhh… silver with navy blue leather interior… mmmmmm…

So here is the question I have for all of y’alls…

Vlad and I have about three weeks of vacation coming up… and we are definately going on a roadtrip convertible Bonnie & Clyde style to California to see some friends and family. We will be stopping around the U.S. along the way and want to know where we should go and what we should see, eat, experience… anything you can think of!

Dare us to try something? Know about fun and daring activities in the U.S. where we can stop (keep in mind our route from Montreal to Cali – must be along the way)?

Let me know πŸ˜‰

Because you’ve never done me wrong
Because I beleive you never will do me wrong
Because you make me smile
Because you annoy the hell out of me
Because you refuse to pick up your shit around the house
Because you are sooo good for me
Because you are sooo good to me
Because I know you only have eyes for me
Because I am your Queen
Because you worship me
Because our love is true and deeply understanding
Because I have passion for you
Because you are unconditional to me
Because we are just two peas in a pod
Because I trust you
Because when I am with you, I am home…

I Love You.

Thank you for being every bit completely and totally you. You are my love. You are my life. You make me better and I appreciate everything you do for me and our little family.

Date Night at Garde Manger Restaurant

Posted in babe, food, love, my man, vlad by fashionista514 on April 11, 2009
Every now and then, no matter how long you have been in a relationship – you need to get away from everything and remind the special someone in your life that amongst all the chaos it’s still just you and them. DATE NIGHT!!! There is nothing I love more than showing my babe off for all of the world to see how lucky of a lady I am ;). Soooo… we finally got reservations to one of Montreal’s most coveted restaurants in the heart of the Old Port – Garde Manger.

Garde Manger has now been open for about four years, and still remains one of the city’s hottest spots for amazing seafood, cocktails and a new menu every night (written so homely on an old school black chalkboard). The decor is classy, yet rustic and natural (gives hints to a fish market/beach hangout). Upon walking in you instantly feel at home (no wonder I was eating my crab legs so savagely). With a large chandelier hanging over the full dining area, candlelit jars filled with sand, an old school rock and roll soundtrack and dimmed down lighting – it is a place you can tell houses many regulars. Reservations are a must, as it is actually impossible to get a table without one. The bar, however is always open and always serving some quite amazing concoctions. So… We decided to try some of their specialties…
( The “art deco” styled address above)

To start off, I ordered a Caesar (one of my favorite aperitifs!)… Garde Manger makes it rimmed with seafood spices, with your classic celery stick, and with a crab leg protruding from your over sized beer mug! I was in heaven. Crab leg in my cocktail? Bring it on!

Next for the starter, Vlad and I shared the seafood platter for two (first and last picture). The platter nearly took up the whole table and was absolutely succulent! Fresh oysters, shrimp, scallops and crab legs in a very healthy portion delivered with decorative sea kelp, home made horseradish and Tabasco sauce. YUM! My main course was a fish fillet in a shrimp and lobster bouillon with artichoke hearts, and Vlad went for their BBQ baby back ribs – I must say, his plate was better than mine! The ribs practically fell off the bone and were incredibly juicy.

Because we stuffed our faces, we did not get to experience any of their desserts this time round, but next time we will indulge in something sinful while dancing the night away to amazing rock n roll πŸ™‚ Overall rating: 4 stars!

Coffee Shopper

Posted in fear, life, marriage, moi, my man, panic, rant, worries by fashionista514 on March 4, 2009

Ola! Today I am writing from Second Cup cafe on Monkland – across the street from chez moi. I needed a bit of a change of scenery. There has been quite a bit on my mind this week. For one, my boyfriend and I got in quite a tiff, and although the smoke has cleared it still feels like it’s essence is lingering around me. As a true born Gemini (yes – we ARE trouble) my mind is clouded and running at a million miles a minute. No such thing as peace of mind here (not unless I have been tranquilized with lavender aromatherapy of sorts). So, here is what is on my mind:
  • Job in my field! Although I am enjoying my current employment as “Leasing Agent” for luxury apartments, my heart lies in fashion! I love that I am doing the interior design for the new units as well – it is truly awesome, but my end goal is to work with a fashion magazine publication here in Montreal. I am a Montreal girl – my heart, soul and love support are all here… no such thing as moving away from my friends and family. Just not an option, even though New York city is magazine central!

  • Boyfriend girlfriend drama… well I won’t get into too many details, but I find relationships sooo hard (especially moving on from past relationships). How do people have the courage to repeatedly open their hearts to new people without comparing everything about them to the past? I love my boyfriend to shreds, but sometimes I find it very hard to relate to him. This always is a head breaker!

  • It’s fashion week! Here in Montreal our finest display their great talent all week on the runways of the Bonsecours Market in the Old Port. I have just not had the same urge to attend as previous seasons! I will be attending the Marie St-Pierre show tonight at 9pm, and am excited about that… but the weather seems to imitate my icy mood of the moment and I don’t even want to think about trekking across half the city to attend a fifteen minute show :(. This is not like me, but Canadian winters I guess have a way of teaching you some things about yourself.

  • My Ex. I am not someone who dwells on the past, however I can’t seem to wrap my mind around the fact that my ex is getting married. At 23! I don’t know, this just seems to be an impossibility to me. So young, so weird that we dated. Weird weird weird. I am very happy for the both of them (and that is not just something I am saying to appear like the un-jealous girlfriend – I really do mean it), it really just blows my mind.

  • The future. What does it behold? I know you can never determine what you will do or who you will become, but somehow I feel wildly out of control and suffocatingly restrained. I want to travel, love, live, feel, touch and taste everything in my sight. I feel impatient and almost like things can’t happen fast enough. This is the itch of youth I assume. The idea that there is never enough time to adventure into life. I want children, but am afraid of a routine that would kill my freedom. I want a husband but am afraid of being taken advantage of over time and not even realizing it – feeling trapped. I sometimes think I would be just as happy to be a travelling gypsy or a beach bum selling shell necklaces from my hammock – but no, that would be the easy way out. I am scared I will die without enhancing or enriching anybody else’s life in a massive way. Some days I ooze wisdom, today I stink of fear and insecurities.

Today I am fragile, emotional, and as you can see nothing is broken but it still feels like it needs to fixed.

On a happy note, I am counting down the days till June 3rd – Billy Joel & Elton John are coming to Montreal on their world tour and yours truly has tickets!!! This is my past wrapped up in a concert – I never thought I would see my idol Elton live… and now one of my dreams will be realized! Just hope I won’t be globetrotting in Romania, Paris or South Africa by that point (I will be there this summer). Then again, I love how unscripted my life really is πŸ˜‰ Now there is something to smile about!

Out with my Babe :)

Posted in babe, food, friends, my man, vlad by fashionista514 on February 11, 2009

Ahhhh… Valentine’s day is quickly approaching and I am so glad to have my babe! We were out this weekend for a friends 30th birthday and unfortunately got a tad food poisoned! All was good the next day though when we were both able to sleep it off… Glad I got to bring him out and show him off at least πŸ˜‰

Tonight ended up being just my babe, his friend Adam and I so we all kinda celebrated V-day together before the big day hits us. My boyfriend (Vlad – yes, as in the impaler) surprised me with a beautiful hot pink Marc by Marc Jacobs hobo bag! What could be more perfect than a heart coloured handbag on the most romantic day of the year? I must say, I have trained that boy well ;). We helped Adam set up his Plenty of Fish profile (he just broke up with his girlfriend of 10 years… sheesh!), and ate my crazy feast! I made oven braised salmon steaks with roasted rosemary potatoes, garlic, and baked tomatoes and mushrooms. Mmmmm mmmm good! Followed by some hot blueberry pie with Ben & Jerry’s cookie dough ice cream melted all over… still thinking about it…. (drool)! Enough comfort food there to mend any broken heart!

The icing on the cake will be on Valentine’s when we head off to Quebec City (alone – finally) for Carnival, the snow festival. I can’t wait to just have the whole day to ourselves – uninterrupted! I’m betting the ice hotel will be an instant favorite – gotta hit up that bar for a frozen martini!

To all you guys and gals out there – show some love this V-day, enjoy putting a smile on somebody’s face πŸ™‚
