Dearest Pops

Posted in appreciate, celebration, family, my dad by fashionista514 on June 22, 2009

Everybody, this is my old man.
And today is his special day 🙂

My dad is truly one of a kind… making inappropriate “cracker” jokes whenever possible, always waaay too generous, industrious, repetitive, Obsessive Compulsive when it comes to cleaning, sensitive, and proud.

I don’t love him to death, cause I love him to life… I am growing up to find parts of myself that are exactly like him… and instead of dreading it – I am happy to share some of the amazing qualities that make up this incredible man. Thank you Daddy for making me into the person that I love being.

Happy Fathers Day Everyone… Spoil your Pops!

My Dearest Babe…

Posted in babe, family, friendship, love, my man, thank you, vlad by fashionista514 on June 20, 2009
Because I can never really tell you enough
Because you can’t put a price on genuine guy (or person for that matter… but especially guy…)
Because you’ve never done me wrong
Because I beleive you never will do me wrong
Because you make me smile
Because you annoy the hell out of me
Because you refuse to pick up your shit around the house
Because you are sooo good for me
Because you are sooo good to me
Because I know you only have eyes for me
Because I am your Queen
Because you worship me
Because our love is true and deeply understanding
Because I have passion for you
Because you are unconditional to me
Because we are just two peas in a pod
Because I trust you
Because when I am with you, I am home…

I Love You.

Thank you for being every bit completely and totally you. You are my love. You are my life. You make me better and I appreciate everything you do for me and our little family.

… there… just had to send that one out into the universe…

Birthday Festivities :)

Posted in family, friends, party by fashionista514 on May 26, 2009
First and foremost,
I want to thank everyone for the beautiful birthday wishes sent my way 😉
You guys are seriously the best 🙂

I am officially 24 now and absolutely lovin‘ it!
Every year I feel better and more and more myself – it’s very refreshing! This year, my best friends and amazing families all spoiled my absolutely ROTTEN – in true fashionista style!

My birthday morning brunch was spent with these crazy fools… 😉
Lenie (far left) has been one of my best friends since high school, and Robby (center) my stylin‘ gay sexy dancer bud I met in cegep are waaaay too much fun!

We sported our most fashionable Zoolander faces at my favorite coffee hangout – Cafe Holts here in the 514. I ordered my regular
“Brunch Tartine” (an open-faced Parisian style toasted sandwich with poached eggs, sauteed mushrooms, smoked salmon and baked tomatoes… yuuuuuum!)
and washed it all down with some freshly squeezed O.J…. freeeeesssssh!

The b-day cake they surprised me with – half massacred… chocolate mousse in the morning… “Happy Birrrrrthday to meeeeeeeee“….

Lenie afraid of Robby’s overly affectionate ways…

Andy (a.k.a. the gingerbread man)
and I have known each other since our first minute of cegep where our lockers were right across from each other ;). The rest is history my friends…. so much amazing history!!!

The beautiful Lenie! Sooo sexy in public places…. rrrowwww!

This is what a male model would look like on Star Trek… sooo beautiful in space…. lol

And here is where the action starts!
Vlad (my babe) and his family hosted an AMAZING birthday party for me at his dad’s beautiful house!

Vlad’s Uncle (above) spins my friend Mimi and takes over the dance floor…. add me to facebook – I will be adding the video VERY VERY soon (so worth checking out – you will DIE)!!!

Threesome! Dora (yellow) joins Vlad & I’s relationship (finally)!

Babe and the beautiful Nabila (she is the most gorgeous dentist I have EVER seen – so lucky to have her examine my mouth) toasting by the bar 😉

My babe and I joking around… as usual…

Antonina (Vlad’s Dad’s Girlfriend) and I chillin‘ waiting for the guests to arrive!

Luckiest. Girl. Alive.

Some of the stunning guests!

They hired caterers and wait staff! Party fit for a Princess! There was a BBQ, a crazy assortment of Romanian food and huuuuuge desert platters! Oh, and drinks outside by the pool was a veeeery nice touch…

Caaaaake! I was freakin‘ amazing. Hazelnut rum cake with cream filling (very European), washed down with a toast of champagne 🙂

Babe = My Romanian translator

Me, Vlad, Vlad’s Dad Horatiu & his beautiful girlfriend Antonina waiting in line for CAKE! Tee hee

Babe looking uber handsome

On the count of three lets all attack Dora!!! One….

…. two….

Diana (far left), Dora (yellow), Vlad, and Than (far right) can’t keep their hands off each other… yes… it was THAT kind of party… hehehehe….

This year I got a record amount of flowers
( I swear to god I received at least five dozen roses in every single colour) – my place looks like a florists office)! I feel so beautiful surrounded by colorful flowers 🙂

My dad & I (drinkin‘ some green tea) on the patio in the backyard after an AMAZING dinner at Japanese restaurant Fuji (they cook everything in front of you on the table). Mmmmmm 😉

Sleeping beauty – isn’t he precious? lol

Dylan (my dad’s doggie), and my bro under the influence…. hehehehehe…. My bro, Vlad and I later celebrated my birthday with a Sunday Morning brunch at my moms (she made a delicious lemon cake I have been enjoying for breakfast in the morning) full with fresh fruit & coffee, sandwiches, and a delicious spanish omelette (one of her many specialties).

I would just like to brag a little itty bit more… I have the most amazing boyfriend, friends and family one could ever wish for!!! I am so grateful and my heart feels like its going to explode after all the generosity shown for my birthday!

Year of the Ox… here I come world 😉

To all of the beautiful, courageous ladies out there that raised us – raise your glass! There is no one else in this world like your mom and you should be proud of her for always having your back (even when it is hard to believe). I hope everyone spoiled their moms rotten and showed some appreciation 😉

And to all of us “ladies in waiting” who will one day be mommy’s – pat yourselves on the back and look forward to the day when you can look back onto the new generation – the future that you helped to create!

P.S. Today I found out I was Fan of the Week on the DVF (Diane Von Furstenberg) site (check out the post right after this one for more info)!!!

My pic was also featured in the local paper for attending The Hungarian Society Ball!

Country Air / Gramps 80th B-day!

Posted in celebration, family, party by fashionista514 on April 20, 2009
(My bro & I)

Sometimes, there is nothing like some good old fashioned family time! Time to relax, enjoy the people in your life who have always got your back and take a breather from stuffy city life! Queue – Country!

(My two cousins and I)

It was my grandfathers 80th birthday surprise party this weekend – a real milestone! Seeing the generations of children and grandchildren makes me look forward to my 80th birthday party too – you see all your hard work before you 😉

(Vlad and the kiddos)

The whole family made it out to Stanstead, as well as some of my grandfathers nearest and dearest friends. Good wine, food and company made for a good time and it was nice to get everyone together in the same place. Vlad was very good and helped out, took pictures and brought up his remote control car for the kids :). He’ll be a wonderful papa some day!

(What can I say… I’m surrounded by boys!)

I got some awesome chill time in with my bro – we have 9 years between us and have never fought in our lifetimes. We look out for each other and I love his individual character (the t-shirt is a sure sign of a strong personality).

(Vlad, Me and Skye smooching)

(my gift to my gramps – one of my ink drawings)

(Beautiful Mama rockin‘ the red leather jacket)

(Here’s the star of the show cutting his B-day cake)

My aunt Tanya made the birthday cake (carrot cake with cream cheese icing), and everyone always kinda potlucks at my family gatherings… I brought the sweets we got from Morocco, and gourmet chocolate chip cookies… oooooh, and some bubbly to celebrate!

(My Aunts super cute boston terriers – Brutus & Max)

(We both like to stick our tongues out…)

(The bed and breakfast where we stayed while in the country – you’d think this was a bathroom…)

Because so many of us went up, Vlad found us a beautiful Bed & Breakfast (online) to stay at for the night. We checked into Lee Farm Bed and Breakfast and instantly adored the homey vintage style of our room. The B&B is an old farm and farmhouse located on a large piece of land just down the road from my grandfathers house. With a beautiful outdoor spa and saltwater pool, it is truly a haven for privacy and rest & relaxation!

(… but it is in fact THE room with only a bath!!!)

(Seriously, how cool is that?)

(Vlad booked the beautiful “honeymoon suite” – all gorgeous antiques)

I woke up feeling incredibly rested and full of energy (once I got over my initial wake-up groggy state) – takes a good 30 min at least.

(Warming up inside in front of the fireplace)

(When in the country – climb a tree!)

(I used to spend hours in this tree when I came up to the country as a little girl…)

(… seems like I still have the monkey gene…)

(ahhhh.. patient boyfriends… don’t you love ’em?)

Sunday morning we headed over to my grandfathers place for some home made brunch…. Your classic scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, pancakes (with both maple syrup and lemon juice and sugar), toast, coffee, orange juice…. SO good!

(Birds eye view)

(Feelin‘ good)

After brekkie, we headed back out on the open road to catch up with Vlad’s family to celebrate the Orthodox Easter dinner in town at his uncle’s place (his family is Romanian). On the way, we spotted an outdoor go-kart racing track off one of the exits… so naturally we stopped and speed raced each other to the death! I get so competitive when in those little cars and whenever I could I cut Vlad off or tried to run him off the course… hehehehehheehhesoooo much fun!

After a good Romanian easter dinner (soooo much food today), we headed home and have since been chillin‘. The lady who watched puggers for us also cleans homes – so we came back to a sparkling and serene home and a tired out pug!

The perfect ending to a perfect day!
(Queue – sappy music…)

A Moroccan/African Feast for Your Eyes!

Posted in family, gift, travel by fashionista514 on April 18, 2009
Yesterday Vlad and I went to pick up my mother-in-law Alice at the airport after her two week vacation to Morocco and Gabon! Get a load of all the amazing goodies she brought back for Vlad and I!
Delicious and super fresh cookies from Morocco! So delicious I’ve been overdosing on them since we got them 😉

Ebony letter openers from Gabon

This gorgeous wooden hand made box from Morocco (each little star is made up of many tiny pieces of wood)…

The necklace above is made out of ivory, and the plate underneath of an African wood – so natural and beautiful!

These toothpick-like things are made of ebony from Gabon as well. Used for entrees where you would normally put a toothpick for finger foods. In its little vase it resembles a pineapple!

This beautiful mountable carving was made by hand in Gabon of mother & child by a tree. If you look closely you can see the wood has been dyed different colors!

My boyfriend used to collect medieval weapons, so his mom brought him back a machete!!! I have no idea what we are going to do with this, but it’s pretty freakin‘ cool!

Ah, and I saved some of the best for last… while Alice was there she hit up the Moroccan market big time, taking with her fresh Argan Oils (both beauty care and for cooking) and Shea butters a la bulk! I’m going to break off pieces of the shea butter for bath oil (it melts in the hot water).

Argan oil is traditionally prized for its healing qualities, especially for the treatment of acne, eczema and chicken pox. It is also ideal for use on scarred or sun damaged skin as an after treatment. Naturally rich in vitamin E, phytosterios and essential fatty acids, the pure argan oil is recommended for its firming and rehydrating effects as well as helping stimulate cell regeneration.”

Why bother travelling when the wonders of the world come to me?!? 🙂

I want another baby… PUG!

I am looking to expand my family – Pug style… a little baby black girl 😉 Someday soon… I love my pugs – no other doggies like ’em!

My LovePug!

Posted in family, love, pug by fashionista514 on February 7, 2009

Today is a low day for moi. The only one who is really always there for me is my beautiful pug Bella. Whatever mistakes I have made, however her day has been – she is always rooting for me. Today the sun is shining and it is truly positive outside. Today is a day for the dog run and running errands, with my darling pugzilla with me.

If you don’t have a pug, I highly recommend them for the overall morale of you and all your family members. They snort, fart, burp and wag their little curled piggy tails. Who wouldn’t want one? True characters. I’m so thankful I have her.

My day is starting to feel better…
