So today´s post is a lot of randomness… but I hope you will enjoy my Peruvian loves… above is the posse I have been chillin´with! I never knew that I would make such good friends on a volunteer mission… score!

Visited a much loved Italian restaurant here in Lima… Mama Lola´s! Delicious in-house pizza´s and home made pastas… fresh, tasty and simplistic… hitting all the right spots… they also let you write on the walls, sooooooo… of course I had to represent!!!
Who knows… maybe someone will look it up randomnly from eating here… I will keep you posted! This world works in strange and mysterious ways, I don´t doubt the possibility…
If the walls could speak, this is what they would look like.
Everybody gets to that ¨point¨while on vacation with their significant other where throwing them off the cliff seems like an amicable option… here I demonstrate with the babe :p Hehehehehehehe….

Yes… so that cliff pic was obviously taken before this one…

Incan ruins! They are so meticulously built and beautiful. Positioned towards the sea and the sun… they must have been absolutely gorgeous intact back in the day.

Beautiful alley

How beautiful is this message? Written on the walls of Mama Lola’s Italian Restaurant. Oh romance… {sigh}

Some super cool cactus plants

They look alive don’t they?!?

Our own version of Rum and Coke 😉 Yuuummmmms!

I am SUPER envious that they have Mc Donalds takeout… Montreal!!! Wake up!!! What are you waiting for?!?!

Alright, now I don’t know if this has any association whatsoever to, but if it does (and even if it dosn’t), go directly here now. A site not to be missed *thank you*

Possibly the most beautifully constructed sandwich of our time.

Market finds!

Felted wool purses

Vlad living out his alter ego as Mexican Wrestler “Whacko Paco”

Coolest fruit basket. Ever. Eat it grandma!

I’m off to bed now… catching a flight in a few hours up to Cuzco *Macchu Picchu town* Going to be very tired… but ready for all the shopping and natural beauty of the mountains! This week is all about being a tourist, so get ready for some pic heavy posts full of Peru’s best.

Fashionista Finds – Peruvian Delights!

Posted in adventure, appreciate, beauty, fashionista finds, friends, learning, life, love, Peru, travel, wow by fashionista514 on September 24, 2009
First off, I want to say a big warm thank you to all who left a positive comment on my last post! I was not expecting to get that strong of a response and I am truly flattered with everything everyone had to say! I would like to thank the anonymous hater for writing that comment… it really showed me who my cyber friends are and that I have an awesome support system right here in my own “backyard”. Love you guys… really, I cannot say it enough. You made my day and made me smile to the point of no return. YOU GUYS ROCK!!! Best followers in the WORLD!!!
So… I have to be brief, as the internet cafe is closing soon and the internet is so slow here it took about an hour to upload all these pics… leaving not much time for chit-chat. Also… Vlad is falling asleep right beside me and constantly reminding me that he wants to go to sleep… can someone please tell me what is so different about having kids or a bf?!? I still end up feeling sometimes like a babysitter ;p
Alright! Finally some Peruvian fashion finds! We stumbled upon a complete bridal mall when we were in downtown Lima… these are some of the super cool, super imaginative dresses on display. How effing cool?!!?

Love the “nipple daisies”

What an awesome theme for a wedding… tacky… yes… but love love love the concept!

Peru has some of the most beautiful architecture I have ever seen. I have never been to Europe aside from London, however I imagine a lot of the style and influence comes from Spain… lots of Baroque styling and pastel colors. The balconey’s here are to die for! All hand carved with handmade glass. Gorgeous!

Beautiful knockers for oversized doors. Makes me wish I owned a door worthy of one!

Chillin’! Vlad and I actually fell asleep here for about an hour the first day in Lima… we were soooo tired and jetlagged! There was a flute player right across the street who played lullaby-like tunes until we dozed off.

Street signs! Love the font!

My own bag, with little peoples on it!!!

I picked up a red pair of these flats… I adore them and they were something like $12.oo USD! Crazy, and handmade in Peru!

Hopefully I will get to see a live llama by the time the trip is over ;p

Syl and Babe

Okay, really… this is not as disgusting as I made it look here. Deserts here are a lot of jello’s, puddings, and flans… really yummy stuff!

Did I mention how much I am ADORING the food here?!?!

Roast beef, rice and potato puree… super yums! Rice and potatoes seem to be a big thing here… I’m all for it!

Uggs… they get me through the day – don’t hate on ’em!

Mini biker taxis

Making friends! Woot Woot!!!

More pictures and adventures to come when the mission part of our journey is done! We will be having more free time soon to play tourists and show you guys a bit more of the beautiful Peru!

Oh… and in case you may have forgotten…

Babes New Car… R-R-R-R-Roadtrip!!!

Posted in adventure, babe, can you beleive?, car, dreams, excitement, favorite, fun, luxury, my man, online shopping, travel, vlad by fashionista514 on June 27, 2009
So… amazingly enough, this IS NOT a joke and Vlad just bought this insanely sexy, fast and GORGEOUS Porsche 911 CONVERTIBLE!!!

Alright, now before you think we are millionaires or something… lets get a few things clear… 😉
He found this on eBay for the insanely low price (for a Porsche anyways) of $26,000… ummmm… my friends new Chevy Cavalier cost her four grand more than our Porsche, so I’m thinking its a pretty sick deal…

It is currently in Pensylvania just waiting for the movers to come and pick it up 😉 With any luck, we will be cruisin’ around town by mid next week (with some pics of us IN it – so that you guys actually believe me 😉

Ahhhh… silver with navy blue leather interior… mmmmmm…

So here is the question I have for all of y’alls…

Vlad and I have about three weeks of vacation coming up… and we are definately going on a roadtrip convertible Bonnie & Clyde style to California to see some friends and family. We will be stopping around the U.S. along the way and want to know where we should go and what we should see, eat, experience… anything you can think of!

Dare us to try something? Know about fun and daring activities in the U.S. where we can stop (keep in mind our route from Montreal to Cali – must be along the way)?

Let me know 😉

Fashionista Flashback… Some Amazing Moments in the Life Of

Posted in adventure, life, memories by fashionista514 on June 12, 2009

As I am fairly new to Blogger (you guys have only known me since January), I figured I would fill you in on some of the things you missed before I became a raging blogaholic 😉 Here are some of my fondest memories from over the past few years (at least the ones that were lucky enough to be documented).

ENJOY, and welcome to my Life!

This is the fashion design team (Katrin Leblond) I used to work for (this was my first job out of Fashion School)! The girls I worked with were so unbeleivable beautiful on the inside AND out that going to work everyday was a very cool experience. Here was right after the first fashion show I produced right outside of Marche Bonsecours in the Old Port. We had all just survived a super stressfull day and were just finally catching a breath of relief and satisfaction of a job well done 🙂 Click here to see my Katrin Leblond Photoshoot!
I rocked my DVF silk organza party dress with my teal louboutin peeptoe pumps that day for good luck (and also cause it was Montreal Fashion Week… DUH)!!!

I am an avid horseback rider! I go every week on friday nights. I used to ride competitively back in the day, but school took over and I had to put it on hold… untill now 😉 Thanks to Vlad encouraging me and driving me up there every week I can get back to the riding lessons that I love so much!

Last year I went to South Africa on vacation for a month (Vlad has some family working over there). Well let me just say it was an experience and a half! This shot was taken in Cape Town (the most Southern point of the African Continent). The beach was completely deserted except for me and the locals fishing for shellfish. Bliss!

As soon as I heard you could ride ostriches in Africa, I was IN!!! We found an ostrich farm and I actually got my “Ostrich Riding Licence”… lol, legally valid for one year! So, if ever any of you have an ostrich “situation” do not hesitate to contact me 😉 To see the pic of me RIDING the ostrich in full action, click here!

This waterfall was truly enchanting. Truly. It was in the middle of nowhere and the water was the clearest I have ever seen. On the hills, mountain zebras were very common (sadly, I didn’t get to see any).

Yes, that is me “a la Pocahontas” laying on top of a dramatic drop of a waterfall.
It was a beautiful spot to catch some sun 😉

Alright, this shot is basically me in a nutshell. I looooove greasy spoon type meals! Thank god for my metabolism cause really I should be at least 300 pounds the way I eat 😦

This was taken last year just before the Canadian winter fully set in. Here is my newly purchased “gear”. Yes… you need “gear” not jackets and normal fashion boots to truly enjoy the winter here. I am standing in my first-ever apartment! It’s total size is the same as my now living room!!! I loved that place though, it definately had some real charm 🙂

This was when I was working as a hostess/bartender while putting myself through school. The boss of the restaurant chose one colleague and I (out of about 100 employees) to attend a salon/makeup studio’s opening to do some good old fashioned PR. I was psyched needless to say, and totally flattered!

Oh, and my hair was longer!!! I miss my hair… I am trying to grow it back again…

Every year, I get a team of makeup/hair artists together to do themed looks for my old high schools “Dance/Fashion” show. This entails making over approximately 50 students over the course of a day. I know it may not seem like too many… but by the end of the day I’m bushed!!! Next year will be the fifth year running, with all proceeds going to charity. This is always a fun way to give back 😉

This was the one Halloween that I dressed up completely all day (downtown) in a Playboy Bunny getup for school… yeah, well… that was great except NO ONE else dressed up and I was stuck like that ALL DAY!!!

Fashion School. As crappy as the program was, I did have some fun times. This is when I was the Choreography Co-ordinator for the final graduating fashion show (with other fellow co-ordinator Paulina). We taught the models how to shake their thang 😉

This is fashion school in a pic. Everyday you are trying on multiple creations to help out your fellow classmates with acheiving the “ultimate” fit. This crazy bodysuit was thrown on me at like 7am… who needs a coffee when you are half naked and totally embarrassed?!?!?

Chillin’ on the Mount Royal with my iPod… this day was grey and miserable, but somehow still eerily beautiful. There were squirrels EVERYWHERE!!!

My aunt lives is the O.C. in Cali… but out in the middle of the desert where she has her horsie ranch!!! This is Spike, one of her sweethearts!

We went to Sea World in San Diego!!! This is Obie the Walrus… it’s crazy… they suck your hands!!!

Getting friendly with the dolphins…

These fishes are SOOOO hyperactive I swear…

My personal fave was the beluga whales (native to Canada – woot woot)… they were very calm and seemed pretty sensitive. Total sweethearts. My aunt scored an amazing hookup through one of her clients to go in the water with the beluga’s and help the trainers. Too cool. Thanks Auntie!!!

Hope you enjoyed some of my flashback moments!

Isn’t it great looking over old pics?

A trip to the Gyno :(

Posted in adventure, fear, health by fashionista514 on March 18, 2009

So, yesterday I had my first every trip down gyno lane. I must say I was pretty horrified to have a middle aged man probe me while my legs were spread wide open and in stirrups!!! Even with the seemingly necessary awkwardness of the situation, the doctor had a great sense of humour and tried his best to break down my anxiety. I happened to drag my very patient and very understanding boyfriend along with me, who held my hand through it all (I know I am a total wimp when it comes to facing any kind of medical attention – you should see me when they do blood tests!!!). Somehow he wasn’t completely grossed out by it all, and stood by me in the examination room.

So, I did learn that bizarrely enough I have a tilted uterus (whatever the hell that is supposed to mean)… apparently it is the equivalent of being left handed when you write. So, my “special” uterus will be writing you all a lefty letter 😉

Anyhow, all went well and was done. Although it was something I had avoided for a long time, it didn’t turn out to be so bad after all. Getting checked regular is sooo important ladies and gents! No matter what torturous scheme they may put on you, it is worth the possibility that it may one day save your life.

Go get yours.

Things I agree with…

Posted in adventure, crazy, entertainment, favorite, food, fun, health, moi, online shopping, shoe by fashionista514 on March 13, 2009

  • Eating whenever you are hungry – none of this “nothing after eight bullshit” (oh, and satisfying attack cravings).
  • Buying incredibly high, insanely gorgeous, ridiculously expensive high heels.
  • Doing something every once and a while that scares you, or puts you out of your comfort zone. Right now, that happens to be taking salsa classes with my boyfriend…
  • Shop, shop, shopping!!! My style is my creative expression – I love learning how to mix and match different things to play up my best qualities!
  • Going to bed early and sleeping ten hours a night (if you can).
  • Drinking lots and lots of water.
  • Overdosing on bubble baths.
  • Loving the person you are with and leaving the past behind.
  • Considering your pets your children.
  • Living each and every day to its fullest.
  • Watching tons and tons of movies!!! With popcorn!!!
  • Singing and dancing in your underwear.
  • Old fashioned romance.
  • Not being ashamed to still admit you love Kraft dinner and Ramen noodles
  • Diamonds, diamonds, diamonds 😉
  • Opening your mind to all the crazy people out there – and finding inspiration from how liberated they are.
  • Not cooking or cleaning sometimes when you don’t feel like it.
  • Sharing a balcony picnic watching the sunset from your high rise apartment building.
  • Long steamy makeout sessions with your lover that don’t have to lead to anything else…

…Stay tuned for more acceptable behaviour…

Live it Up!

Posted in adventure, crazy, fun, inspiration, travel by fashionista514 on February 13, 2009

Just a friendly reminder that life is short and should not be wasted… whatever you want out there – GO FOR IT! Live it up and run on adrenaline. Never allow an opportunity to be wasted…

Here is one of my “Live it Up” moments when I was in South Africa last year – can you say ostrich rodeo?!? Everyone thought I was completely out of my mind but I knew that if I didn’t do it, I would regret it. Turned out I was right – that was one of the highlights of my trip!

Let me hear some of your “Live it Up” moments!
