514 Outfit Post – Vermonteuse…

So I am finally back in the 514 (phew!)… Not that I had ANYTHING to complain about in Hawaii, but sometimes it is just good to be back at home sweet home. Spent a beautiful day in Vermont before heading home (oh how I love you Vermont… let me count the ways…). Please excuse the haggard jet-lag written all over my face… I was kinda out of it! Enjoy amigos!

You know, as beautiful as tropical weather is… they just don’t get to dress up and layer things like we do. The whole essence of fall and snuggling into bulky sweaters, big boots and hats just does not apply! Going somewhere tropical really made me appreciate being Canadian we get the fun of every season. A country that can keep up (and bring reason to) my shopping sprees… WOOOHAAAA!!!

514 Outfit Post from Hawaii – Cigarillos and such…

So as far as I’m concerned… any post starting off with manslave window displays is pretty much a winner in my books… why o why can’t I be that mannequin??? Lord knows I could use some buff manslaves on leashes to walk around town with Hmmm… maybe I just need to make a trip to Stereo back in the day on a Saturday night…

Now there are lots and lots of beautiful designer shops here on the Waikiki beach strip – It really reminds me a lot of NYC’s infamous 5th Avenue or Beverly Hills Rodeo Drive… so much eye candy all on one beautiful street! Who knew that a tropical oasis such as this could also cater to your every shopping desire/wildest dreams!?!?!

Today for the first time I really missed home. You know, it is always great to get away from the “big picture” to really realize how lucky we all are in our lives. I am so thankful for everything that I have – health, an amazing family, beautiful open and honest friends, enough money to indulge in my passions and good, GREAT food! I have so much love coming my way, and so much love I feel the need to give back. My heart is overflowing, and I never want it to stop!

Soooo… here is me being thankful, grateful and all that other good stuff… for I truly beleive that this may be as good as it gets and that I was one of the lucky ones who got dealt a great card

… Oh… and thank the good lord for cigarillos! I have ALWAYS wanted to try smoking one but was always way too chicken shit to do something so seemingly “badass”… well… I bought myself two packs of Hula Girl cigarillos in both coconut and vanilla flavor…

… and I love them! Now… this is not something to indulge in too often, but I really enjoyed the taste of the flavored tabacco after a AMAZING lobster/shrimp genocide feast at Red Lobster Cigarillos make me feel sexy (screw you Hollywood for glamourizing smoking and it WORKING on me… bastards…)

I’ll just shut up now…

Oh man did I have a field day on this fine Saturday!!! Although it has been pretty cold and nasty (rainy) here lately in the 514, the weather had absolutely no effect on curbing my shopping enthusiasm today!!! I slapped on some MAC Russian Red lippy and went on my way…

Oh la Dita! The things you do to me! Is she not 100% sensational??? Today I flipped through my beloved Fetish/Burlesque and the art of the Teese picture book… maybe that is what inspired the retro turn in my little shopping spree…

Sooo… I took inspiration from the fabulous Dita for my “white moon” manicure. I LOVE it! French manicures you can kiss my @$$!!! Red nails paired with lipstick to match has to be the ultimate duo in my books!

Freeflowin’ Fashionista

I am feeling rather melancholic today… some days just bring back old memories and torment you with thoughts of “what if” and why, why, why… As a Gemini (yes I consider astrology my religion… I DO stereotype everyone I meet by their sign… and so far it has never failed me) my mind naturally runs free into sometimes dangerous liaisons… and the fact that it is only amplified today is not helping. Some of the thoughts free falling through my being…

Today the emotion of thankfulness and the inspiration of beauty was completely dominant in my mind. Thinking of the joy I get out of writing, how ecstatic I become when I see a beautifully crafted item of clothing… the euphoria of seeing something that is perfectly pieced together. Where the minor details make all the difference and the colors, prints and aesthetic blend seamlessly into one. When it fits like it was made for you… a second skin. The feeling that it is not just a shoe, it is part of your every day existence – your personality, your inner expression. Who you are. Fashion to me is not about the designers (although they ARE skilled at combining all the above and usually hit the nail pretty directly on the head), it is about the feeling you get from wearing any particular item. When you feel truly like yourself – insecurities aside.

The fact that I can only TRY to collect my thoughts and feelings of this superficial love and put them into insufficient words… well… even the attempt means everything to me. The pulse of passion and expression that runs hot through me that could never be fully understood by another.

My Personal Louboutin Collection

I am a collector – a fashion collector! Christian Louboutin heels are my pride and joy. Not only are they drop dead gorgeous shoes, but they make you feel like an unstoppably sexy woman every single time you put them on. Here are a few pics of my four beautiful pairs and the story behind each of them…

These cream dreams I got at the Louboutin store in NYC’s Greenwich Village. It was sensory overload when I walked into that little store and saw the hundreds of different Louboutin styles. Here in Montreal, we are very lucky if we get a dozen different styles (all of which are usually very conservative). I saw these and fell in love. It is practically impossible to find these, as they are constantly selling out before they even reach Montreal. A shoe dream came true when I got these .

These grey studded pumps I have never seen anywhere else. I scored these on ebay for a fraction of what they are selling them for in stores (I made a deal with the seller), and love them to shreds!

I love the contrast of the bright red soles to the grey mousy suede! Mmmm…

These gorgeous teal peep toe heels were love at first sight (well, then again… probably every louboutin heel is…). I tried these on at Rosenstein in Montreal and just knew they were right for me.

One of the first times I wore the blue peep toe pumps was with a DVF dress (they seem to complement each others designs so amazingly). Did you know that Diane Von Furstenberg and Christian Louboutin are actually best friends in reality? Can’t get enough of either of them!

These were my very first pair! I had originally went searching for a dress to wear to a wedding, and found these instead They are my wizard of oz ruby red slippers!

Sunday Dreamin’ – Intro to my Life

Sundays are best when you never get out of bed. It’s 4:27pm here in mtl and I am wrapped in my down comforter propped up on a pillow with laptop in hand. My pug, Bella is curled in a ball beside me and I can feel her hot breath on my feet. My awesome boyfriend surprised me this morning with breakfast in bed from St. Viateur bagel down the street (two eggs, sausage, bagel and cream cheese with potatoes… mmm), just thinking about it now makes me want a second helping . I swear I am the luckiest girl in the world to have him . There is a hot bath waiting for me but all I want to do is stay here in the moment and enjoy the pure silence.

I did some web surfing, checked my work e-mails and scoped out the Christian Louboutin listings on ebay… if you must know anything about me, Louboutins are my fashion fix. I become some kind of fiend when I see that fever-colored red flash from the back of a perfectly angled 5 inch heel (sigh). Even days not worth putting clothes on seem fit for a fashion fantasy. Here in montreal, I call it Holt Renfrew. What Neiman Marcus, Saks and Bergdorfs is to the states – just smaller scale. Sometimes just walking through the store releives my stress, tension and moodiness. I’d like to think of it as my “artificial” zen space. At home with my boyfriend and my pug definately tops the list where zen is involved though. We live in a beautiful 3 1/2 apartment in the Monkland village with an indoor pool and sauna in the building (reminding myself of this, I may just go for a swim). It is a highrise with a beautiful view of Mount Royal and the Oratory from our balcony. In the summer we have tea, croissants and cheese outside picnic-style and watch the sun go down in the most beautiful orange and pink haze. We are avid movie fanatics and give in to boxed DVD sets of tv series all too often (hey, no commercials – no “to be continued”). Our 52″ flatscreen pretty much ensures that going to the theatre is not much of a better deal than staying home with plenty ‘o food and blu ray quality. Life is good my friends, life is good. My pug, otherwise known as Bella, Chuck, Snugglepug, etc… is a pooch of many names, all adjacent to her many personalities. One day I will adopt a black pug sister for her and we will be a complete family (until my baby factory starts producing).

Well, time to go eat something! Not much better on a Sunday than left over chinese food from the night before! Yummers! Bon Appetit a toulemonde!
