514 Outfit post from Hawaii – Enchanted Japanese Garden

Take a good look… this is where zen lives.
Today was a day filled with endless, natural, complex beauty. Time took to reunite with a lost part of my soul. Time to reconnect with all things missed when you live and breathe your life in the city. Today was a real reminder that although I am a downtown girl at heart, I am equally a country bumpkin that wishes she could just be chillin‘ with animals all day…
We visited the beautiful Valley of the Temples Memorial in Oahu this afternoon and found this gorgeous slice of zen right here in paradise. A beautiful rendition of a traditional Japanese temple and it’s sacred grounds.
I can’t even begin to express how much all of these little critters helped to enlighten my mood. Morning hardships (waking up too early on vacation, stomach ache from Mc Donalds ODing, my phone being reset and losing all my contacts, etc…) turned to dust got carried away with the breeze…

The birds, the koi fish (man are they gorgeous – and huge!), the turtles, swans and even peacocks (although they were hiding) were astounding. Everything free to roam as it pleased… and in SUCH a stunning surrounding!

I felt like a little girl again…feeding the animals at a petting zoo… reading their personalities and appreciating all the little things that make them so important and special. Love shared between two mortal beings. Wanting to connect with another who’s perspective is a mystery. A common respect and caring… I guess a feeling of wanting to nurture and protect another living thing. Either this place set off my maternal clock or mother nature/Aphrodite instilled a feeling within me… I guess I’ll never know…

I absolutely adore the feeling of feeding and holding birds in my hand. They are such delicate animals symbolic of freedom in my eyes… Their physical ability to fly inspires my own life motto to always remain true to myself and be free. In spirit, in life and most importantly in my heart. I truly believe that where freedom starts, passion follows and love lasts.

Say hello to my little friend… this loosey goose/swan was a true buddy. Very chill to hang with… I can now say I made friends with the locals in Hawaii ;)

I have feather envy… what a beautiful shape… it’s like the curly hair of featherdom!
I also had the opportunity to go snorkeling today (first time ever!) Man o MAN did I fall in love. Hard. I spent the afternoon swimming with four sea turtles who were the COOLEST, most chill and relaxed guys I could have hoped to hang with. They gave me a personalized tour of the ocean coral reefs ;) Shout out to my tourtels!!! I will be back to ride on your back demain…. hehehehehe… turtle HARASSMENT!!!

Babes New Car… R-R-R-R-Roadtrip!!!

So… amazingly enough, this IS NOT a joke and Vlad just bought this insanely sexy, fast and GORGEOUS Porsche 911 CONVERTIBLE!!!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Alright, now before you think we are millionaires or something… lets get a few things clear… ;)
He found this on eBay for the insanely low price (for a Porsche anyways) of $26,000… ummmm… my friends new Chevy Cavalier cost her four grand more than our Porsche, so I’m thinking its a pretty sick deal…

It is currently in Pensylvania just waiting for the movers to come and pick it up ;) With any luck, we will be cruisin’ around town by mid next week (with some pics of us IN it – so that you guys actually believe me ;)

Ahhhh… silver with navy blue leather interior… mmmmmm…

So here is the question I have for all of y’alls…

Vlad and I have about three weeks of vacation coming up… and we are definately going on a roadtrip convertible Bonnie & Clyde style to California to see some friends and family. We will be stopping around the U.S. along the way and want to know where we should go and what we should see, eat, experience… anything you can think of!

Dare us to try something? Know about fun and daring activities in the U.S. where we can stop (keep in mind our route from Montreal to Cali – must be along the way)?

Let me know ;)

Beat the Acne Heat

Posted in beauty, favorite, product review, skin, summer by fashionista514 on June 27, 2009

Summer is finally here, and with it (at least here in Mtl.) comes some INSANE humidity.
Humidity = ZITS!!!
Ewwwwwwww…. :(

Sooo… I have compiled what I consider to be the perfect attack to knock them suckers out before they take residency on YOUR FACE!!! Here is my summer clear skin survival troup… HUP HUP TWO THREE…

Beta Wash
Acne wash for normal to oily skin

“Beta Wash is a powerful oil-free gel cleanser with algae extracts to detoxify the skin and chamomile to calm irritation. It also contains beta hydroxy acid, to combat breakouts, plus rosemary, sage, and myrrh – known botanical acne healers. It penetrates pores to interrupt the acne production cycle and absorbs oil without dehydrating the skin. Perfect for teenagers and adults alike.”

Love this, and it leaves your skin feeling tingly and fresh…

Beta Mask
Blemish treatment for normal to oily skin

“This targeted treatment is a multi-faced approach to combating acne. It contains one percent salicylic acid for mild exfoliation, willow bark extract to reduce sebum secretion and kaolin to absorb excess shine. Because blemished skin is sensitive, calendula, arnica and sage are added to tone and moisturize, while peppermint and eucalyptus provide antibacterial benefits.”

This mask has the same feeling as the wash – refreshing and deep cleansing. Great to use right before your period when breakouts are more prone (I slap it on EVERY CHANCE I get before that dreaded time of the month arrives… ugh…)

C10 (P.M.)
Brightening night cream for all skin types

“This formula contains 10 percent vitamin C, the highest allowable dose, to effect brighter skin, fewer dark spots and a visibly younger look with repeated use. Ceramides work to recharge skin’s natural brighteners. And seven powerful extracts tone and firm the complexion. Unlike some vitamin C products, this treatment also softens and hydrates.”

Ummm… not only does it fade your acne scars and sun spots over time, but this baby smells like orange creamsicles… SOLD!!!

Mario Badescu’s Drying lotion is like nothing else I have ever tried… it actually FREAKIN WORKS on drying up them imposters ASAP!!! I dap some of this on to my breakouts with a Q-tip and POOF! The next morning it is considerably better if not completely GONE! Amazing! A definate must-have all year round for every girl/guy out there (yes, my boyfriend has been know to use it A LOT – works great at healing mosquito bites too ;)

Alright, so finally you have washed, masked, creamed and dried every possible pore on the surface of your skin… you are positively GLOWING… however that drying lotion can be a bit rough and cause some dry skin… the perfect remedy? Calendula cream! You can purchase this at any drug store (usually used as a naturopath version of Polysporin to aid in healing cuts, scrapes and burns) or health food store. Seriously works at getting your chapped zit area back into creamy smooth skin (and seems to help avoid scarring from developping)! I only use this once the acne itself has completely been extracted and is on it’s healing run – not when it is still infected!

I hope this helps you as much as it is helping me :)

Tried, tested and TRUE!!!

Godiva Chocolate Hotel Room!!!

Ladies, ladies, ladies… I don’t know if you’ve already heard about this, but let me tell you – it is music to my unknowing ears!!! Last year for Valentine’s Day, Godiva Chocolatier played Willy Wonka and hid a secret invitation in one of it’s special edition Valentines Day truffles assortments!
The company re-created a suite at the famous Bryant Park Hotel in New York City for a sinful getaway for two. Everything from the table, chandeliers, books (which opened up to truffles), as well as paintings (a chocolate rendition of Gustav Klimts “The Kiss”) were made entirely of chocolate. Mmmmmmm…. Can you say “overdose”?!?

Lucky Ali Larter got to experience it firsthand to promote it as their spokesperson… lucky girl!

Pretty irresistible stuff, huh Ali? ;)

Mmmm… Mmmmm…. Good! Product Review

I have been using Kiehl’s Soy Milk and Honey Body Polish now for a good five months (this is how long a tube of this fabulous formula lasts with frequent use)! Not only does it smell like a mixture of coconut and cream, but the scrub itself is completely made up of natural loofah! That’s right! The natural sponge that we normally use as a scrubbing sponge performs as an amazing exfoliator where a little proves to go a long way. It is made for the body, but on several occasions I have used it as a facial scrub as well without any bad reactions to my uber sensitive skin. Literally a dime sized amount can exfoliate an entire leg, torso, arm, etc… The scrub feels great if you can get your significant other to massage it into your back – feels like a good back scratch! Also, when you are treating yourself to an at home pedicure it is a great prepper and sloughs off the dead skin cells – leaving you with radiant fresh skin! The mix is nice and creamy, so your skin is not stripped after. I’m bad about moisturizing after the bath and my skin does not get flaky or irritated from being overtly dry from this product!

A true beauty junkie favorite! I recommend this to everyone and anyone who likes the feeling of the spa in the comfort of their own home! Order some, you will not regret it! My all time favorite scrub!

$27.50 for a large tube here:

He’s Bringing Sexy Back

Gianmarco Lorenzi is one sexy guy. Hey, any guy who can create stilettos of this caliber is pretty damn sexy to me! When I saw these pairs, my jaw flat out dropped to the floor and I then proceeded to drooling for quite a long period of time. I saw flashes of them in my dreams and got that shopping anxiety you get when you want to buy something before it gets away… They are my Italian lovers from past lives reincarnated into shoes… (sigh)

In short, these heels take a walk on the wild side… right where we all want to be…
To score a pair of these puppies, check out ebay for some sick styles. His boots share the same risky energy as these beauties! All made in fashion land (Italy). :)

Yum yum yum yum yum yum yum yum…
Okay, it is official. The classic Ray Ban Wayfarers have caught up with me.

These shades are pristine perfection in beautiful pastel hues – too bad I feel like a total dumbass when I try them on in the stores ;(. Ah well… to all those peeps out there that can pull these off –
I HATE YOU!!!!

Things I agree with…

  • Eating whenever you are hungry – none of this “nothing after eight bullshit” (oh, and satisfying attack cravings).
  • Buying incredibly high, insanely gorgeous, ridiculously expensive high heels.
  • Doing something every once and a while that scares you, or puts you out of your comfort zone. Right now, that happens to be taking salsa classes with my boyfriend…
  • Shop, shop, shopping!!! My style is my creative expression – I love learning how to mix and match different things to play up my best qualities!
  • Going to bed early and sleeping ten hours a night (if you can).
  • Drinking lots and lots of water.
  • Overdosing on bubble baths.
  • Loving the person you are with and leaving the past behind.
  • Considering your pets your children.
  • Living each and every day to its fullest.
  • Watching tons and tons of movies!!! With popcorn!!!
  • Singing and dancing in your underwear.
  • Old fashioned romance.
  • Not being ashamed to still admit you love Kraft dinner and Ramen noodles
  • Diamonds, diamonds, diamonds ;)
  • Opening your mind to all the crazy people out there – and finding inspiration from how liberated they are.
  • Not cooking or cleaning sometimes when you don’t feel like it.
  • Sharing a balcony picnic watching the sunset from your high rise apartment building.
  • Long steamy makeout sessions with your lover that don’t have to lead to anything else…

…Stay tuned for more acceptable behaviour…

Italian Toothpaste

Posted in favorite, product review by fashionista514 on February 6, 2009

Marvis. Have you heard? Italian designer toothpaste as I’d like to call it. Could you think of a cooler idea than this? Upon my search for the perfect thought – provoking toothpaste (yes, I just said thought-provoking toothpaste), I stumbled upon the delectable and fresh flavours of Marvis Mint. Mmmmm… there seems to be something so demurely couture about their blends. Just the right amount of adventure matched to mint.

For the traditionalists there is the Classic Strong and Aquatic Mint. For the lovely ladies, Jasmin Mint. Finally, for the adventuresses out there, Paradise Fruit and Ginger Mint!

All flavours leave your mouth squeaky clean and wanting to smile. Go out and get ya some!
